Appearance & Personality
The Halfmoon variety is defined by its extreme finnage. Unlike standard Bettas, the Halfmoon’s tail is wide and voluminous, often overlapping with the dorsal and anal fins to create a “cloak” of color. They come in a spectacular array of hues—from solid royal blues and fiery reds to “fancy” marbles and bicolors. These are highly intelligent “personality fish” that can recognize their owners, “dance” for food, and even be trained to jump through small hoops or follow a finger.
Why It’s a Premium Selection
-
Breathtaking 180° Display: Its tail is a marvel of nature, providing a visual impact that rivals the most exotic saltwater species.
-
Low-Maintenance Luxury: Because they prefer calm waters and don’t require massive tanks, they are the ideal “professional” pet for offices, study desks, or bedrooms.
-
Interactive Companionship: Bettas are known as “water puppies” because they are so observant and responsive to their human caretakers.
-
Unique Labyrinth Breather: Like all Bettas, they can breathe air from the surface, making them exceptionally hardy and adaptable to different home environments.

Pro Tip for Success
Because Halfmoon Bettas have such heavy, delicate fins, they need a gentle water flow. Use a sponge filter or a filter with an adjustable intake to prevent them from being pushed around. They also love a “Betta Hammock” (a broad-leafed plant like an Anubias or a silk leaf) placed near the surface where they can rest their long fins and take a nap
