The 8-inch Red Parrot Fish is a fully matured, visually striking hybrid cichlid, admired for its intense red-orange coloration, beak-shaped mouth, and friendly demeanor. Larger than typical store specimens, this size guarantees a dominant, centerpiece presence in your aquarium.
Known for their docile and social nature, Red Parrots are compatible with similarly sized semi-aggressive tank mates and are generally peaceful unless provoked. They thrive in tanks of at least 60 gallons or more, with plenty of space to swim and smooth hiding spots like ceramic caves, driftwood, or large rocks.
These fish are hardy, making them ideal for both experienced and intermediate aquarists. Their quirky swimming style and curious personality often make them one of the most entertaining fish to observe.
Feeding:
Omnivorous – thrives on floating pellets, cichlid sticks, frozen foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp), and blanched veggies like spinach or peas.
Ideal Tank Mates:
Oscar (similar size), Severums, Firemouth Cichlids, Polar Parrots, and large peaceful catfish (like Plecos).
