Golden Gourami (Trichopodus trichopterus – Gold Morph)
The Golden Gourami is a beautiful color morph of the popular Three-Spot Gourami, featuring a bright golden-yellow body and subtle spotting along its flanks. Its glowing appearance and easygoing temperament make it a standout in any freshwater aquarium.
These fish are labyrinth breathers, meaning they can gulp air from the surface—ideal for aquariums with lower oxygen levels. Typically reaching 5–6 inches in size, Golden Gouramis require a tank of at least 30 gallons, with a calm environment, floating plants, and hiding spots.
Golden Gouramis are generally peaceful, although males may become slightly territorial, especially during breeding. They do best with other similarly sized peaceful to semi-aggressive fish such as mollies, barbs, swordtails, or tetras.
They’re omnivores and thrive on a balanced diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, live or frozen foods like bloodworms and daphnia. With proper care, these gouramis can live up to 4–6 years, offering both beauty and serenity to your tank.
